Geelong Cricket Club

About the Redpath Society

The Redpath Society has been established to assist and promote the development of cricket in the Geelong region.

The Society is a coterie group of the Geelong Cricket Club and named after one of Geelong’s favourite sons and sporting legends Test match cricketer Ian Redpath.

Local business identities, members of the Geelong cricket fraternity and sports lovers in general comprise the bulk of the Redpath Society membership.

The Redpath Society meets regularly over the cricket season at dinner functions mainly in the Geelong Cricket Club’s social facility, the Bruce Moore Room, overlooking Kardinia Park. At each dinner members are invited to enjoy each other’s company in a convivial atmosphere over a two course meal with wine, beer and soft drink.

The highlight of each dinner function is the quality of our guest speakers which rival the best on the sporting club function circuit as well as leaders of the community.

Redpath Society membership is available through the Geelong Cricket Club at $120 per season, dinner function entry is kept to a minimal cost and members are encouraging to invite guests to enjoy the quality events. Society membership includes Geelong Cricket Club full membership rights.

Since the inception of the Redpath Society the quality of our guest speakers has been second to none including entertainment, sporting and community leaders such as sports writers Gideon Haig, Martin Flanagan, Greg Baum, Peter Hanlon, Mike Coward, Mike Sheahan. Commentators Gerard Whately, Anthony Hudson, Olympians Lee Troop and Craig Mottram as well as cricket identities Sam Loxton, Mike O’Sullivan, Malcolm Gray, Paul Sheahan, Merv Hughes, James Sutherland, Malcolm Speed, Matthew Elliott, Tim May, Ben Oliver, Darren Berry, Neil Buszard, Jonathon Moss, Tony Dodemaide, David Hussey and Andrew McDonald. Sporting identities such as Kevin Sheehan (AFL), Billy Brownless, Stephen Wells, Mitch Brown, Neil Balme, Ted Whitten Jnr and community leaders such as Father Kevin Dillon and Justice Betty King round out a varied range of key speakers.

Redpath Society membership is open to all sports lovers.
